The Conservative candidate for Rochford and Southend East last night watched Steve Tillson's team go top of Coca Cola League Two.
Southend beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 with both goals coming in the first half. The result meant that the Blues leapfrogged Yeovil into first place, buoying confidence ahead of the season run-in.
James was delighted to have witnessed the victory and revealed he's feeling more and more at home every time he visits Roots Hall.
"Alhough I'm historically a Southampton supporter I've been to a few matches now and I will certainly develop split loyalties over time.
"This game itself was really enjoyable - Southend played really well and deserved their win. This time I was invited along but they'll be no need for invitations in the future!"
James was true to his word when he said this as he revealed he'll be watching his local team as much as possible during what will be a very exciting finale to the football campaign.
"I'm off to the LDV Vans Trophy Final in Cardiff this coming weekend and I've already got tickets for the crucial matches against Leyton Orient and Yeovil. It could be a really special end to the season if things go well."
