  1. Eastwood - how long?

At the end of this season will it be time to let our prodigal son go. He is barely playing half a season, and I don't see that improving. When fit he still has something to offer, but a fit freddy is becoming a rare thing.
  2. CHEMICO FC

What did Marc Laird ever do wrong?

Mark Laird the key player keeping him fit.He changed the game at Portsmouth when he came on.He will be the key to winning the League 2.He was playing well last year befoe his injures.
  3. MrB

    Blog Post

Some rare news! Good to see Allan is still interested.
  4. DoDTS

    A couple of changes

With the new session starting on Saturday just a couple of changes from now on: As usual 2 points for naming Southends first goal scorer, but some seem to think we won't always score, therefore for "no scorer" you will score 1 point in the rare occurrence that the Shrimpers fail to score...
  5. Che's Left Foot

    Steak

Just had one of the greatest - some would say life-changing - steaks of recent times (28oz medium rare rib-eye, I should add)...so beautiful it almost brought me to TEARS. So, fellow zoners, how do you eat yours?
  6. Hotman

    Shrimpers on holiday

Anybody spotted another southend supporter while on holiday (apart from who you travelled with etc)? Saw one once on a cruise a few years ago, and this week just got back from holiday having seen one. Made me realise how rare this probably is, given the gap between them. Anyone else?
  7. Sandbach Shrimper

    Ex-Shrimpers scoring 20/10

Lots today. Gary Hooper, Alex Revell, Michael Kightly, Jabo Ibehre and Simon Francis with a rare goal for Bournemouth.

    Antique help required

Hi , A friend has a rare miniture silver musket approx 6cm which is engraved with family name etc and is dated 1842. It is more of a souvenire type thing and is actually a pencil holder with additional bayonette. Does anyone know anything about this kind of thing or know where similar items...
  9. TrueBlue

I can change, you can change, WE can change!

The year I recall was 2005 I had just got back recently from a summer lads trip to Magaluf (Shagaluf) and I popped myself onto the scales, well more liked blobbed onto the scales, I get my reading at look at my print out.... 25 Stone man I am now I had just crossed from the 24's into 25 zone...
  10. Kevin Hogg

    Thank you...

to the wonderful people who stopped (along with a group of scooter boys we virtually blocked the motorway) on the hard shoulder of the M25 near Brentwood and gave me a lift 21 years ago this weekend. After a frantic couple of hours (I missed the minibus to Bury) of pure panic, I was handed a...
  11. The great game is comming back

Remember the classic football game Subbuteo. Well ,its making a come back soon and will be on sale in the shops again. The game got killed by computer games etc, But the game still carried on, there many clubs around the country where people meet up and play in Leagues etc. Think there only one...
  12. Medway Blue

How does our excellent start to this season match up to past successful seasons?

OK, so, after 18 games played in the league, our excellent record reads like this: 1st P19 W13 D2 L3 F36 A17 GD+19 PTS41 Whilst our promotion seasons in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 ended superbly, I was pretty sure that they didn't start this well. I was right...
  13. Question What are those tall white concrete things on the seafront?

Made one of my rare trips down to Southend at the weekend and noticed about half a dozen very tall white concrete things on the seafront that stand out like a sore thumb. How long have they been there? What are they for?
  14. Ref Watch Burton

The referee has been changed for today's match. No longer rookie Lee Collins but third year ref Paul Tierney from Wigan. Refereed Southend once before - a rare win at Bradford City with Clohessy red carded. Two matches, two red cards so far this season. Experienced (i.e old) Steve Rubery...
  15. (18+) The c-bomb in films/TV shows?

So settling down to another HBO series (Game of Thrones) and it's clearly obvious that more and more US films and TV shows are dropping the c-bomb. We watched Bridesmaids (a 15) and it was dropped, and I commented that it seems to me to be more used and maybe more acceptable in the US, which is...
  16. South Bank Hank

    So what does Harris offer?

I'm as delighted as anyone at signing Neil Harris but my feeling is based on reputation alone as I've either not seen him play or, if I have, I've got no recollection of it. For those that have, what's his game about? Is it just an eye for goal or will he give us something else in our...

    RIP our 'Enery

British Boxing legend Henry Cooper dies apparently "of a broken heart" following the death of his wife, just two days before his 77th birthday. RIP  http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Former-Boxer-Sir-Henry-Cooper-Has-Died-Aged-76/Article/201105115983477?f=rss

    Best relegation fight ever?

My interest in the Premier League is never much more than as a casual observer other than following Wolves' results due to my dad being a fan. However this season is gearing up to be a cracker as the season turns for home. Not at the top, Man Utd will almost certainly win it and the top 4 look...

    Match 5

At home 4th v 3rd. We have 3 sunny days so I'm taking the rare opportunity to bat first in the hope that conditions change on my dusty track. Thought about 3 spinners but have gone with 2 and 2 seamers with an all rounder on 5th for a very short spell. Defeat is not a word I want to hear as I...
