Hmmm

Tes has never in my mind made a comment. Drewe said his best time was at Rushden, and Bombhead never made a comment either. Nor do I remember Leon Johnson bad-mouthing us.

Apart from that, very accurate

:thump:

I do love the fact that it's always panto season on ShrimperZone. Anyone who leaves us and then goes on to better themselves elsewhere becomes a villain - especially if they express the view that the Southend hierarchy wasn't all it was cracked up to be. However, anyone who leaves us and remains as sh*te as ever they were suddenly becomes a legend - especially if they then speak fondly on their time at Roots Hall.

Kights definitely falls into the former category, as did Leon Johnson and Nathan Jones, and as has Leon Cort.

Tes, Drrroooo and Bombhead fall very much into the latter category.

I'm not suprised that Man Utd. tried to sign Kightly.

He would have been a great replacement for Marek Szmid.

I wish Kights every success, and I merely rue the fact that Tilly failed to spot his potential. Tilson is not infallible and does make mistakes - in truly bizarre fashion, despite having been a left midfielder himself, it is his failure to get anything like the best out of the left-wingers under his care (Nicolau, Kightly, Cole) that has been his biggest single failure as manager.

Tilly & Brush have done remarkable things, don't get me wrong. But they have made mistakes too - heck, to err is human, after all. One such mistake was failing truly to allow Kights to fulfil his potetntial.

I don't think its a case of failing to spot potential, I think its a case of recognising that he wans't going to fulfill his potential in the reserves at Roots Hall. Tilson made the right decision in letting Kightly go. Kightly wasn't going to feature in the Southend first team and he wasn't going to develop the way he did in the reserves.

As for any suggestion Tilson has a blind spot when it comes to left-midfielders: Mark Gower has played his best football under Tilson.

:fart:

Hair-splitting, Naps, hair-splitting. The point about SZ being permanently in panto season is pretty true.

So ner.

Matt

Is this possibly because he gets frustrated at them, and makes comparisons of their performance and attitude with his own?

Now what was I saying about Gower....
Amazing goal, yes... but another dinstinctly average performance, by all accounts.

Don't get me wrong, as one of his co-sponsors (now that the Exiles have divested themselves of their Jonah... :p ), I have more reason than most to hope that Marky G thrives on the pitch.

Perhaps he's in need of competition... let's say that that arrived in the shape of either Ray Parlour (who could play on the right, and switch JCR to the left, presumably?) or Darren Currie (as direct competition for Gower on the left) then if that gave Gower the necessary incentive to up his overall level of performance, then we'd all be happy.

So yes, Gower is playing some of his better football under Tilly... but one can't help feeling that he's not at full throttle at the moment, which is a wee bit frustrating.

Matt

He has a good record at wolves, 5 Goals in 13 Games.

I wonder how many he has played on the wing as well.

All of them! I ahve a mate a work who is an avid supporter of Wolves, he says Kightley is a revelation and is amazed that we released him. Of course i explain time and time again he looked like a 16 year old schoolboy.

Suspect this has been covered and this will get moved to ex Shrimpers but have we a sell on clause as I hear rumours of Man U etc?

He has already moved on from when he left us anyway, if there was a sell on fee it would go to Grays anyway, not us.
