I have noticed that I am wearing out a lot if shoes walking between Fenchurch Street and Fleet Street. In order to reduce my expenses and save a few snakes/crocodiles I have started to wear a pair of Asics running shoes to/from work. What are peoples views on this?

Club to experiment with free admission ?

With attendances starting to dwindle, I understand that the Club is to look at possible ways to entice the so called 'marginal supporters' who might otherwise be tempted by the lure of neighbouring clubs such as Canvey , Chelmsford and even Braintree Town, to visit Roots Hall. It is not thought...

*Typed up for the Exiles* As expected RM makes a statement to the Echo a week before the AGM, he is becoming more predictable by the day. Southend United chairman Ron Martin expects the football club to be playing at the new FF stadium next year. He spoke out as Blues' latest accounts were...
  8. Chickens roosting at Col Ewe??

Listening to BBC Essex this morning I was interested to hear that Col U have announced that they will be looking to reduce their wage bill/levels next season. It would appear from the report that the lack of a decent crowd is now beginning to bite, 2,800 the other night. It was intimated in the...

In Ireland, a Picture of the High Cost of Austerity

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/29/business/global/29austerity.html Ireland has slashed its budget, abandoned infrastructure and raised taxes to pay off with the deficit - with the result not only of deeper recession but an actual increase in borrowing. We're hearing a lot about the fate of...

    Two quotes from Ron?

20/04/10 “This reduction in ticket prices will not as a consequence reduce the level of planned investment in the squad.” 27/04/10 Martin also confirmed that "the club would cut the wage bill for next season". So does it or not Ron?

    Ron Martin in truth shocker

"The reduction in ticket prices will not as a consequence reduce the level of planned investment in the squad" In other words, we wont now be investing less than the planned zero. ;)

    Another question

Should we go into admin, then (I assume) players will be sold to reduce costs and bring some revenue in. But we don't have a plethora of registered players, do we? So let's say 6 players go - we won't have a team at all. We can't sign anyone while the embargo is in place. Or am I missing something?
