I actually quite like the taste of green tea! That sounds like an interesting combination though....

If you try the espresso trick, you can only train for about 90mins steady-state (e.g. you are working hard but can still easily converse with a training partner) before you start to deplete your muscles. The idea of it is to galvanise your metabolism and burn fat, not muscle!

Sounds a bit complicated to me

So, if I have a green tea or an espresso before I climb on the bike of a morning for my 30-minute ride to work (earning, no doubt, the opprobrium of GlasgowSUFC were he to see me), would I burn more fat?

If so, how soon before I cycle should I have my tea / espresso?

Matt

Yes, it will work.
About 10-15 minutes.
Has to be strong gloopy espresso. None of this instant espresso cack!

I wouldn't show you any scorn or contempt as you no doubt are not a cycling commuter who runs red lights and gets more sporting cyclists like me into the bad books of you average Jeremy Clarkson loving motorist! :p

Might give that a go.

And, mostly (unless late at night when no-one's looking), I'm pretty well behaved at traffic lights.

:D

Heathen!
You are testing it today with dislike of espresso & certain bands from NYC!
It works, believe me I've tried it!

I've not been able to stomach the stuff since I went on a drinking spree at uni and decided to have alternate shots of double espresso and jagermeister.

I regretted that one in the morning :(

Tea is THE worst tasting hot drink ever, makes me gag just thinking about it.

What is even worse is talking to someone who has had a cup of tea in the last hour. It has stewed in their mouth and as they talk to you, the pungent smell of stewed tea flies from their gob like a toxic missile....Yeeeugh

I have to hold my hands up & say if road conditions allow I do run red lights, but only if there's minimal traffic around!

As I said, it has worked for me when I've done it in the past!
Remember to hydrate with water once you get to work though.
