Cockles
Right to reply:

Perhaps 'pathetic' was the wrong choice of words, but i was slightly narked by the tone of yours and HB's posts. Up to page 21,  the thread wasn't really that boring (imho obviously) and was still all on topic. Personally, i've never seen anything like that a football match. Maybe i haven't been to enough. Who knows? And i imagine a fair number of people are in a similar position. So when an incident like that arises, you want to discuss it, as do most fans, regardless of whether they are familiar with kind of thing or not.

What i objected to was the rubbishing of a thread about something that was and is clearly discussion-worthy. A point echoed by XS, but obviously in slightly more diplomatic fashion. And I certainly didn't make any outright statements saying you shouldn't ever come on here.

At the end of the day, SZ is a talking shop and is full of conjecture and opinion of that nature. The point i was making was that, if you find this type of discussion boring, then maybe SZ isn't for you. Clearly this isn't the case though as you're a regular poster. I just don't understand sometimes why people seemingly criticise the board just because people post their opinions on it.
No actually your right, after that post maybe SZ probably isnt for me.

Of cause it could. To me you lot should take a good long look at yourselves. After the match at Oxford all that bollox you were giving it with Oxford, if you wanted to get to them so f**king badly like you made out you wanted to do then you only had to go betwen a thin row of stewards, if you wnated it so badly because you are such top boys, when you were in the bowling alley, why didnt you just tear in to them, Ill tell you why because you are a bunch of f**king mugs, and as for that dick down the front with you in a fake cream stone Island jumper and baseball hat I think he calls himself Will, well you must be well proud of  him, I heard he chased a group of ten year olds on there bikes across the car park after the game, and tride to throw bottles at them, what a complete $%&* you are mate. Ha ha, top post!

In this day and age if people are that keen to have a ruck I'm sure they can. They can arrange to meet in an industrial estate away from the police and stewards and then they can show how hard they really are. But, no instead they like to goad and gesture from at least 20 yards away with a line of stewards protecting their sorry arses.

Like them, I don't really know the first thing about football hooliganism, but I'd imagine if I was as hard as they like to think they are, I'd be somewhat bored with trying to scare pensioners and 14 year old kids from 40 yards away.

However as I'm bored I would quite like to read some fiction/comedy so if anyone from the world famous CS Youth would like to recount some of their 'war' stories involving the CS Youth, I'm all ears.

Taking a different slant on things:-

Last season against Boston I was sat in my regular seat in East Greens, a fracas broke out in the away supporters end. Boston were three down after about 30mins and a very similar situation occured as on Saturday.

From my seat I found the whole situation bizarre and a mixture of laughter and amazement came over me. I couldn't believe that fans from the same club could possibly come to blows.

Now having witnessed it at Northampton, Kidderminster and Oxford it is possibly the most distressed I have been at a football match.

Excellent post Mr Cockles, its very interesting to read an 'other side of the fence' view point!

ha ha ha nice one!

Anyone remember when Cardiff came down a few seasons ago and they were leading 1-0 until that spectacular own goal by Rhys Weston right on the stroke of full-time to give us a point? Remember how happy we were?

And remember how the kids in the F Block goaded the Cardiff fans (not the wisest thing to do) as we all filed out after the game and then fled as fast as their little white trainers could take them along the front of the West Stand when (surprise! surprise!) the Cardiff boys reacted and leapt like horny gazelles over the no-man's land section and feet first into the infamous F Block ... which had by this time emptied with the occasional pile of very wet poo being the only evidence that anyone had been in the area? Anyone else remember that these kids (the pre-cursor to the CSY?) appeared in the Spread an hour or so later (no doubt having changed their underwear) and had the audacity to recount stories of how they had stood their ground in the West?

How we laughed ...

I agree with Cockles post, when I see fights on a Friday/Saturday night these days its pathetic to see. It's quite sad but whenever these programs are on about the effects of binge drinking, Southend on a Friday night always seems to feature.

I'm surprised tonights Echo had nothing about the incident on Saturday, Hopefully Ginge and co will be better behaved at Grimsby.

RE: The Cardiff game, I seem to remember someone saying one of the Cardiff ringleaders that scared the yoofs away was a woman screaming "Come on you English B@stards". I remember that incident inspired Dave X's brilliant cartoon of your average West Block F Chav.

The Guardia Civil here take a very dim view of trouble caused by binge drinking, fights normally started by ****ed-up Brits who can't take their drink. Last summer a well-known tw*t started on a mate in a club on the beachfront ~ an unprovoked attack after the ****ed-up moron tried to touch up my mate's wife and my mate (understandably) asked him to cease and desist. The tw*t swung a couple of punches then tried to hit my mate with a bottle . A couple of doormen waded in to restrain the tw*t so he started on them (never a wise thing to do in any country) and was dragged out the back where they proceeded to "teach him a lesson". The police (Guardia Civil) arrived and arrested the tw*t, taking him back to the station. Overnight they beat him to a pulp with night sticks and then charged him €500 for the privilege of being released the next morning. Needless to say, the tw*t is now virtually tee-total ...

So, whether or not one would agree with it, the system here in Spain runs a zero-tolerance policy of drunks and fighting ...

Sounds good but with the wishy washy liberal PC system over here, the drunken tw*t would probably then be able to sue the bouncers and the policmen who hit him for a good few thousand quid.
